Sprayed application of volatile substances
Our patented lithos micro dispenser® technology enables volatile substances such as pheromones to be sprayed.
This technology makes mating disruption possible in arable farming while also making the process scalable and affordable. Biological pest control using pheromones has already become indispensable in many orchards and vineyards. In arable farming, the practical implementation of mating disruption has so far failed due to the high cost of deploying and collecting the various dispensers. However, following several years of research, we have found a method of implementing effective mating disruption efficiently and economically on large arable fields in the future – and in a natural way.
Slow release effect
With the spray application, the pioneering idea of pheromone-based pest control can now also be realised in arable farming. The basis is provided by the volcanic mineral lithos natural zeolite® and its special suitability as a carrier material for binding certain liquid substances and releasing them continuously over a longer period of time. This means that any pheromone from the pherolit® range can now also be sprayed quickly and easily in arable farming, creating a long-lasting and effective scent cloud to prevent the spread of pests.
Spraying pheromones instead of deploying attractant dispensers
The volcanic natural mineral zeolite (lithos natural zeolite®) has a special grid structure with a large inner surface. In the patented Lithos Crop Protect process, pherolit® is applied to the carrier material and released again via the unique slow-release function. The carrier material enables targeted control of the active ingredient release. Zeolite is already used in many places as a proven plant and soil additive and therefore does not form any questionable residues, but actually has a positive effect. Thanks to its particle size, the zeolite powder, which is prepared using a special grinding process, can be sprayed using normal field sprayers, stilt tractors, aeroplanes or drones.
